Info Sardinia

The Italian island of Sardinia is situated south of Corsica and is, after Sicily, the biggest island in the Mediterranean Sea. The island is around 300 km long and has a width of around 150 km. 1.5 million people live on Sardinia.

Airports and ferries

Sardinia has 3 international airports, Olbia, Alghero and Cagliari. There are flights to Sardinia from London Gatwick, Luton, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool, Birmingham, Edinburg and Dublin. The most important ferry ports are Olbia, Porto Torres and Golfo Aranci. From the Italian mainland you can take the night boat from Genua and Livorno and the day boat from Piombo and Civitavecchia. The distance from London to Genua (the nearest port) is 1310 kilometers.

Places of Interest

Through the ages Sardinia was conquered many times and remains left by these people can be seen on the island. The most noticeable are the prehistoric Nurahen, mysterious towers made of loose stones, there are about 7,000 of these to be found spread over the whole island. Other prehistoric remains are the Tombe di Giganti (graves of the giants), Dolmen and Domus de Janus (with petroglyphs). More modern places of interest include the village of Irgoli, famous for murals, and the Grotto of Ispinigoli. If you would like to explore the island during your holiday it is advisable to hire a car.

Nature

The interior of Sardinia is dry, wild and empty, only the shepherds with their flocks survive here.
The east coast of Sardinia is a stunning combination of beautiful sandy beaches and peaceful bays with rocky, pebbly shorelines. The pinewoods give shade during the hot summer days.
During our walks and cycling excursions you can enjoy the beautiful countryside of Sardinia in a unique way.
